Phantom Lawyer Set to Premiere in March, Yoo Yeon Seok Shows Off His Comedic Side at Script Reading

SecondUpdate.com – The latest Korean drama in the fantasy legal genre, Phantom Lawyer, has officially begun its first script reading ahead of its premiere on SBS.

The drama will air in the Friday–Saturday time slot and brings together Yoo Yeon Seok and Esom as the lead actors.

Phantom Lawyer tells a unique story about Shin Yi Rang, a lawyer who has the ability to see ghosts.

Instead of avoiding these invisible beings, Yi Rang helps them resolve legal issues that were left unfinished during their lifetimes.

In handling these unusual cases, he works alongside Han Na Hyun, an elite lawyer known for her ambition and near-perfect record in the courtroom.

The script reading session was attended by director Shin Joong Hoon as well as writers Kim Ga Young and Kang Chul Gyu.

Main cast members such as Yoo Yeon Seok, Esom, Kim Kyung Nam, and Jeon Seok Ho were also present, immediately showcasing strong chemistry from the very beginning.

During the reading, Yoo Yeon Seok successfully stole the spotlight with his portrayal of Shin Yi Rang.

He displayed a wide range of emotions, from warmth and empathy to expressions of confusion when his character first realizes he can see ghosts.

Not only that, Yoo Yeon Seok strengthened the comedic elements through changes in vocal intonation, facial expressions, and spontaneous reactions that filled the script reading with laughter, especially during possession scenes.

Meanwhile, Esom impressed as Han Na Hyun. She convincingly portrayed a cold, perfectionist lawyer.

Her sharp gaze and calm yet firm speaking style effectively conveyed the character’s strong ambition and high level of confidence.

The drama will also feature several supporting actors, including Heo Sung Tae, who plays a ghost client with unique characteristics.

Phantom Lawyer is scheduled to premiere on March 13 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS. With its blend of legal, fantasy, and comedy genres, the drama is expected to deliver a fresh story that stands out from typical legal dramas.
