Actor Adam Sandler is set to return to the golf course in Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to his legendary sports comedy film. The movie is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 25, 2025.

According to a report from Variety on Tuesday (March 18), the plot of Happy Gilmore 2 remains under wraps. However, early footage suggests that Adam Sandler’s character faces doubts when competing against professional PGA golfers.

Nevertheless, he returns to the golf course with full confidence, and as always, chaos ensues.

Several cast members from the first film will be returning, including Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller. Additionally, the sequel will introduce new faces such as Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce, and Sandler’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny.

Interestingly, the film will also feature famous professional golfers like John Daly, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau.

While appearing on The Tonight Show, Adam Sandler revealed that the entire production team is thrilled about the project.

"We’re very excited about it. We can't wait. A lot of golfers have been really kind and will be part of this movie," he said.

One of the NFL’s biggest stars, Travis Kelce, is also joining the cast. Previously, he expressed his desire to be part of a Happy Gilmore sequel on his podcast.

"Travis mentioned it, so we have something great for him," Sandler said about Kelce’s role in the sequel.

The film will be directed by Kyle Newacheck, who previously helmed Murder Mystery, another film starring Adam Sandler alongside Jennifer Aniston.

Meanwhile, the script is written by Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy, who also penned the original Happy Gilmore.

The first Happy Gilmore movie premiered in 1996, featuring Adam Sandler as a former hockey player who turns to professional golf to save his grandmother’s house. The film became one of the most iconic sports comedies of Sandler’s career.
