Ben Affleck Is No Longer Interested in Starring in Superhero Movie, Here's Why

Secondupdate.com – Actor Ben Affleck has revealed that he is no longer interested in returning to superhero films, including reprising his role as Batman.

Affleck first appeared as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and later returned in Justice League and The Flash. Initially, he was set to star in a solo Batman film, but the project was eventually canceled and replaced by The Batman (2022), starring Robert Pattinson.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Affleck explained that he did not enjoy his experience playing Batman and has lost interest in the superhero genre.

According to Affleck, many factors contributed to his discomfort while portraying Batman. However, he emphasized that the issue was not solely about superhero movies themselves.

“There are a number of reasons why it was a very torturous experience,” Affleck said, as quoted by NME on Wednesday (March 26).

“And none of it had to do with the simple dynamics of, for example, being in a superhero movie or anything. I’m not interested in returning to that genre again, not because of that bad experience, but simply because I lost interest in what made it appealing to me,” he added.

He further stated that he does not want to repeat that experience due to various misalignments, from work schedules and expectations to the overall vision behind the project.

Affleck also admitted that he was unable to give his best performance in superhero films, especially since he was going through personal struggles at the time.

He explained that he was not someone who caused trouble on set, but he felt unmotivated.

“So, I wasn’t bringing a lot of positive energy to the equation. I wasn’t making trouble, but I just showed up, did my job, and went home. But you need to do a little better than that,” he continued.

Although he is no longer interested in superhero films, Affleck remains active in the film industry. Recently, it was announced that one of his older films, Dogma, will be revived.
