Secondupdate.com – Legendary director Martin Scorsese is planning a surprise with his latest crime film project, featuring a star-studded cast.

Set in Hawaii, the film will star Dwayne Johnson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Emily Blunt.

The movie is based on a true story, with a screenplay written by journalist and author Nick Bilton.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter on Friday (Feb 21), the film shares similarities with two of Scorsese’s previous works, Goodfellas and The Departed, which revolve around mafia rivalries.

This time, the story focuses on a power struggle in the Hawaiian Islands during the 1960s and 1970s.

In addition to directing, Scorsese will also serve as a producer alongside Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nick Bilton, Dany Garcia, Lisa Frechette, and Rick York.

Beyond this project, Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly in negotiations to star in the adaptation of The Devil in the White City, a bestselling book by Erik Larson, also set to be directed by Scorsese.

The two have previously collaborated on several successful films, including Killers of the Flower Moon, The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, The Departed, The Aviator, and Gangs of New York.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will reunite in the upcoming A24 biographical film The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie.

Johnson will portray Mark Kerr, a former professional wrestler.

This won’t be the first time Johnson and Blunt share the screen, as they previously starred together in Disney’s Jungle Cruise (2021).

DiCaprio also has another ongoing project—an untitled film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, set to be released by Warner Bros. at the end of the year.
