SecondUpdate.com – The Korean comedy film Wild Sing presents a unique story about TRIANGLE, a mixed-gender music group that was once popular but gradually faded after an unfortunate incident.
The film follows their chaotic journey as they attempt to reunite and make a challenging comeback.
One of the most attention-grabbing characters is Sang Gu, played by Uhm Tae Goo. He is portrayed as TRIANGLE’s overly enthusiastic rapper, whose passion far exceeds his actual talent.
Sang Gu once dreamed of becoming a true hip-hop artist, but in reality, he only had a few lines in the group’s songs.
After TRIANGLE disbanded, Sang Gu’s life took a downturn. His ambitious solo album failed completely, leaving him in financial trouble and forcing him to work as an insurance salesman just to get by.
Through this role, Uhm Tae Goo successfully captures both sides of Sang Gu: a highly ambitious individual and a struggling, failed musician filled with quiet sadness.
He admitted that the character was particularly challenging, as it is very different from his real-life personality.
To prepare for the role, Uhm Tae Goo underwent serious training. For about five months, he trained like a K-pop idol and even spent time learning in the environment of JYP Entertainment, one of the major companies in the Korean music industry.
In addition, he received intensive coaching from producer Kass, who has worked with groups such as GOT7, Stray Kids, and NMIXX.
The training covered various aspects, including rap techniques, styling, and stage performance.
As a result, Uhm Tae Goo brings Sang Gu to life with a distinctive rap style that makes full use of his unique raspy voice, along with expressive gestures and choreography that enhance the film’s comedic tone.
Interestingly, audiences are also eager to see how the actor known for being shy and introverted transforms into such an expressive and energetic character.
Wild Sing is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2026. The film is expected to deliver fresh entertainment by combining humor, music, and a relatable story of struggle.
