SecondUpdate.com – South Korean actor Kim Young Dae has officially announced that he will begin his mandatory military service in April 2026. The news was directly delivered by his agency, OUTERUNIVERSE, on Wednesday (March 25).
In its official statement, the agency explained that Kim Young Dae will serve as an active-duty soldier. He is expected to complete his military service in October 2027, in accordance with South Korea’s mandatory military service regulations.

According to him, serving in the military is an obligation that every man in South Korea must fulfill. Even so, he views it as part of life rather than an obstacle.
“Military service is something all men go through, but it can feel like a brief pause in a long journey,” he said at the time.
He also added that after completing his service, he hopes to return to acting and take on more roles that truly match his interests and abilities.
Kim Young Dae began his career in 2017 through the web drama Secret Crushes. Since then, he has gained wider recognition through various popular projects such as Extraordinary You, The Penthouse, Sh**ting Stars, Moon in the Day, and Boyfriend on Demand.
Kim Young Dae’s departure for military service will certainly mark a temporary pause for fans who have been eagerly waiting for his latest works. However, many are also showing their support, hoping he completes his duty safely and returns in good health, ready to continue his career in the entertainment industry.
