SecondUpdate.com – The legendary manga series Dragon Ball has never lost its charm. The work of Akira Toriyama continues to be enjoyed by people of all generations, even today.

Interestingly, Dragon Ball fans do not come only from ordinary readers. One of Japan’s famous singers, Utada Hikaru, is also known to still read the manga with her son.

Recently, the singer of First Love shared a unique experience while reading Dragon Ball volume 21 at home.

While reading the final part of the battle between Goku and Vegeta, Utada’s son suddenly looked surprised.

He realized that Goku used the word “ore” in his dialogue.

“Goku said ‘ore’!” the child exclaimed in amazement.

This felt unusual because Goku is usually known for using the word “ora” to refer to himself.

Curious about this, Utada and her son checked the pages before and after that scene. As it turned out, in almost all other parts, Goku continued to use “ora.”

They also compared an old edition published in 1990 with the latest 2024 version. Surprisingly, the dialogue had not changed at all.

Utada later shared this small discovery on her X account. She wrote that she and her son were very happy to find such a unique detail, although she was unsure whether fans had noticed it before.

Many netizens were touched by the simple moment between a mother and her child reading manga together.

Others were also surprised, admitting that they had never noticed this detail despite reading Dragon Ball for many years.

Some fans even added that Goku had used “ore” in other volumes as well, such as in volume 27 after he first transformed into a Super Saiyan.

In Japanese, “ore” is a first-person pronoun commonly used by men in casual and informal situations. It roughly means “I” or “me.”

However, the word carries a more masculine and assertive tone. In certain contexts, “ore” can also sound slightly rough, depending on who is being spoken to and the situation.

It is usually used when talking to close friends or people of equal social status.

Meanwhile, Goku is better known for using “ora,” which gives him a simple, innocent, and countryside-like impression. This trait has become an important part of his character.

That is why, when Goku suddenly uses “ore,” many fans consider it something unusual.

Until now, there has been no official explanation for why Goku used “ore” in that particular scene. Some believe it was meant to emphasize his emotions during the fight, while others think it was simply a variation in dialogue.

Although it may seem trivial, small details like this show how seriously fans pay attention to every aspect of Dragon Ball.
