Lee Joo Bin Once Became a Victim of Fraud, Her Identity Photo Was Misused and the Case Went to Court

SecondUpdate.com – South Korean actress Lee Joo Bin shared an unpleasant experience she once went through due to the misuse of her personal data.

Unexpectedly, her identity photo was used by a criminal network to carry out various fraud schemes.

Lee Joo Bin revealed the story while appearing as a guest on the variety show Life84, hosted by Kian84. She admitted that she was shocked to learn that a photo she had used for identification purposes ended up causing major problems in her life.

According to Lee, her photo was frequently exploited by criminals to run various scams, ranging from fake insurance schemes to fraudulent investments. There was even a used-car dealer who used her photo without permission, as well as other perpetrators who took advantage of her facial resemblance to commit financial crimes.

The most serious incident occurred when a scammer forged a national ID card using Lee Joo Bin’s photo and pretended to be her. As a result, the actress had to deal directly with the court.

Lee said she was once contacted and questioned by the court regarding her alleged involvement in an investment fraud case. The situation was extremely stressful for her, as her name was dragged into a case she had absolutely nothing to do with.

Interestingly, Lee initially regarded the misuse of her photo as something “strange but positive.” Many people commented that her face looked friendly and trustworthy. However, as similar incidents kept happening, she realized that the situation was actually very harmful.

In 2019, Lee Joo Bin’s identity photo also appeared on illegal sports betting websites and in several secondhand goods fraud cases. At that time, her agency received numerous inquiries from the public and eventually had to issue an official statement to clarify the situation.

After hearing her story, Kian84 jokingly remarked that Lee has a very convincing face. He even said that he would immediately believe her if she ever offered him something.
