Perry Bamonte Has Passed Away, The Cure Loses an Important Figure at the Age of 65.

SecondUpdate.com – The music world is once again in mourning. Perry Bamonte, the legendary guitarist and keyboardist of British rock band The Cure, has reportedly passed away at the age of 65.
The sad news was officially confirmed by the band through their website on Friday, December 26, 2025.
In their statement, The Cure said that Perry Bamonte took his last breath on Thursday, December 25, 2025, after a brief illness at his home.
His passing occurred on Christmas Day, making the grief felt by band members and fans even deeper.
The Cure described Perry as a calm, intuitive, consistent, and highly creative individual.
Although he rarely sought the spotlight, his behind-the-scenes and on-stage contributions were enormous to the band’s journey.
In their official statement, The Cure referred to Perry as an essential part of their “long story.” He was known as a warm figure who helped maintain the band’s stability from the 1980s through the decades that followed.
Perry Bamonte was born in London in 1960. He did not initially join as a permanent member. In 1984, he became involved as a tour crew member, guitar technician, and personal assistant to Robert Smith.
It was not until 1990 that Perry officially joined The Cure as a full-time member. From then on, he played a crucial role as a guitarist, keyboardist, and six-string bass player.
He contributed to several major albums, including Wish, Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers, Acoustic Hits, and The Cure.
For more than 14 years, Perry performed in over 400 concerts with the band.
Although he left The Cure in 2005, Perry rejoined in 2022. His comeback was warmly welcomed by fans, especially as he became active again during the Shows of a Lost World tour.
Over the past two years, Perry took part in approximately 90 additional concerts, which the band described as some of the finest performances in their history.
His final appearance took place on November 1, 2024, at a concert titled The Show of a Lost World.
Before his passing, Perry had actually been scheduled to take part in The Cure’s major tour across the UK and Europe in 2026.
The tour was planned for major cities such as Manchester, Cardiff, Dublin, and Berlin, as well as a number of leading European music festivals.
Besides being known as a musician, Perry Bamonte also had a deep interest in the arts. He pursued illustration and frequently contributed his work to Fly Culture magazine. He was also the bassist of the British rock supergroup Love Amongst Ruin.
His younger brother, Daryl Bamonte, is also well known in the music industry as a tour manager who has worked with The Cure and Depeche Mode.
In closing their official statement, The Cure expressed their deepest condolences to Perry Bamonte’s family.
They emphasized that his passing has left a profound wound, not only for the band, but also for fans around the world.
