Ahn Bo Hyun Donates 100 Million Won to Prevent Childhood Blindness, Joins Korea’s Elite Donor Club

The actor, who played Jang Geun Won in Itaewon Class, has made a remarkable donation to help children from underprivileged families.

On December 24, the Community Chest of Korea announced that Ahn Bo Hyun donated 100 million won (approximately Rp1.1 billion). Thanks to this contribution, he has officially joined the Honor Society, an elite club for high-value individual donors, becoming its 3,800th member.

The funds donated by Ahn Bo Hyun will be focused on programs to prevent blindness among children and teenagers from low-income families. The assistance will cover the costs of surgeries for various eye conditions, including cataracts, retinal disorders, and strabismus (crossed eyes).

In addition, the donation will also support vision rehabilitation programs, helping children with visual impairments return to their daily activities more comfortably and with greater confidence.

The 36-year-old actor said that he has long wanted to give back to others. He feels he has received so much love from the public and wants to return it in a tangible way. He also reaffirmed his commitment to continue participating in social activities and spreading warmth throughout the community.

Ahn Bo Hyun’s charitable actions are nothing new. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he donated 3,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to various social welfare facilities. Then in 2022, he once again showed his concern by donating 50 million won worth of sanitary pads to help underprivileged women.

For him, the most important thing is ensuring that the aid truly reaches those in need and can ease the burdens of daily life.

Amid his busy schedule of giving, Ahn Bo Hyun’s career is also at its peak. He recently won Best New Actor at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards for the film Pretty Crazy.

He will also soon greet fans through his latest tvN drama Spring Fever, which is scheduled to premiere on January 5.
