SecondUpdate.com – The success of the Korean drama The Manipulated has led many viewers to hope that Taejung’s story will continue into a second season.

Responding to this enthusiasm, Ji Chang Wook has finally spoken up about the possibility of Season 2. However, the actor’s answer turned out to be far from as simple as fans might have imagined.

In an interview conducted in Seoul on Thursday (11/12) and quoted by The Korea Times the following day, Ji Chang Wook admitted that he had mixed feelings when asked about the continuation of the series.

He candidly stated that, to be honest, he does not actually want to move straight into a second season.

Even so, his statement did not completely close the door on hope. Ji Chang Wook added that there is no greater happiness for an actor than knowing that their work is so loved that it is considered worthy of a follow-up season.

This remark suggests that, for him, continuing The Manipulated is not merely about popularity, but also about a major responsibility toward story quality and audience expectations.

Ji Chang Wook emphasized that producing The Manipulated demands extraordinary energy, both physically and mentally.

He has to consider many factors carefully before making a big decision such as proceeding with another season.

Nevertheless, the fact that he did not completely shut the door keeps the possibility of Season 2 open.

Moreover, the world of The Manipulated still offers plenty of room to be explored, from character conflicts to major conspiracies that have yet to be fully revealed. It is no wonder that public enthusiasm continues to grow.

Ji Chang Wook also revealed the reason he was initially drawn to the series. One of the biggest factors was his love for the film Fabricated City, which serves as the foundation for The Manipulated.

According to him, from the moment he first heard about plans for a series adaptation, he already had a strong intuition that he would be involved again. That feeling grew stronger after he read the script.

He added that his curiosity about how the story would develop, combined with the presence of new cast members, made him feel challenged and motivated to accept the project.

Although he is known as an actor experienced in action scenes, Ji Chang Wook admitted that The Manipulated has been one of the most demanding projects of his career.

He had to face various extreme scenes, ranging from intense fight sequences to vehicle chases. Some scenes even involved heavy visual effects and high technical demands.

“Car chase scenes involving extensive computer graphics, and motorcycle scenes in tunnels, felt extremely demanding both technically and physically,” Ji Chang Wook said.

In The Manipulated, Ji Chang Wook plays Taejung, a man whose life is destroyed by unseen forces that manipulate everything.

He described Taejung as a representation of an ordinary person rendered powerless within an unjust system.

According to Ji Chang Wook, his main focus in acting was to make viewers truly feel the character’s sense of despair.

This approach is what made Taejung’s character feel so powerful and leave a deep impression on audiences.

Despite acknowledging the grueling production process and the immense pressure of continuing the story, Ji Chang Wook also expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming love viewers have shown for The Manipulated.

His statement, which does not entirely reject the idea of Season 2, has become a glimmer of hope for fans.

For now, the final decision still lies in the hands of many parties. But one thing is certain: The Manipulated has left a strong mark, both on its audience and on Ji Chang Wook himself.
