Secondupdate.com – The world of professional wrestling is in mourning. Terrance "Terry" Brunk, known to fans as Sabu, passed away on Sunday (May 11) at the age of 60. The sad news was officially announced by WWE through its official website.

According to the New York Post, the exact cause of Sabu's death is still unknown. However, the news has been confirmed by fellow legendary wrestler Rob Van Dam (RVD), who was once Sabu's tag team partner.

Through his X account (formerly Twitter), RVD posted a pointing finger emoji as a tribute to Sabu’s signature pose in the ring.

Sabu was the nephew of WWE legend Edward "The Sheik" Farhat. Born in 1964, he rose to fame in 1993 through his appearances in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), where he became known for his extreme high-risk maneuvers—leaping off chairs and slamming opponents through tables or even barbed wire.

In 2006, Sabu joined WWE after the company acquired ECW. He took part in several major matches, including bouts against Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship and John Cena for the WWE Championship.

His WWE career peaked at WrestleMania 23 on April 1, 2007, in his hometown of Detroit, where he performed alongside ECW teammates like The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Rob Van Dam. The event was attended by over 80,000 people.

However, just a month after WrestleMania, Sabu departed WWE and continued wrestling in various promotions across the United States, Japan, and Mexico.

He also appeared twice in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2023, including a special guest referee role in a match between Adam Cole and Chris Jericho.

AEW also extended their condolences to Sabu’s family, friends, and fans via their official social media channels.
