Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson Open Up About Parenthood at Cannes

Secondupdate.com – Actress Jennifer Lawrence and actor Robert Pattinson shared their experiences of parenthood during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival.

They attended the event to promote their latest film titled Die, My Love, directed by Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay.

The film is adapted from the 2017 novel of the same name by Ariana Harwicz. Set across France and Montana, the story stars Lawrence as Grace, a new mother struggling with postpartum depression and severe psychological distress.

This two-hour film marks one of Lawrence’s most serious and emotional performances in recent years. She also served as a producer on the project.

At the press conference, Lawrence admitted that the role deeply resonated with her as she is now a mother of two.

"It was very hard to separate what I would do from what [Grace] would do… The extreme anxiety and depression made me feel isolated. Wherever you are, you feel like an alien, and that really hit home for me," said Lawrence.

Lawrence also revealed that she had long wanted to work with Ramsay after watching Ratcatcher in 1999.

She never expected to one day star in a Ramsay-directed film. The two appeared very close, sharing a heartfelt hug at the event.

"But we took a chance, and we sent it to her. And I truly can’t believe I’m here with you," Lawrence said as they embraced.

Robert Pattinson, who plays Grace’s husband Jackson, also stars in the film alongside veteran actors like Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte (playing Lawrence’s character’s parents), as well as Oscar-nominated Lakeith Stanfield.

Pattinson shared that working with Ramsay was a truly unique experience.

When asked how becoming parents has influenced their careers, Lawrence said that having children has completely changed her life.

Pattinson agreed, saying that parenthood has brought him great inspiration. He now has a baby with his partner, English singer Suki Waterhouse.
