Secondupdate.com – The popular HBO series The White Lotus is officially set to continue with a fourth season. This news was reported by Insider on Sunday (April 6), stating that production is currently underway.
Each season of The White Lotus is known for its stunning locations and mysterious storylines, often involving a murder mystery at its core.
The first season was set in Hawaii, the second in Italy, and the third takes place in Thailand. Season four is also planned to be set in a breathtaking location, although it hasn’t been officially decided yet.
Mike White, the show’s creator, writer, and director, revealed that location scouting has not begun yet as he hasn’t been home in a long time.
“We were supposed to start scouting in April, but I said, ‘Guys, I haven’t been home in three years,’” Mike shared.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mike White and producer David Bernad emphasized that the choice of filming location greatly affects the production budget.
One reason Thailand was chosen for season three was due to tax incentives provided by the local government—something that also weighed heavily in HBO’s considerations.
For the fourth season, a warm climate is the top priority when it comes to location.
“I’d bet $100,000 that we’re not filming in a cold place again,” Bernad joked, adding that Mike really dislikes cold weather.
Casting auditions for the fourth season have not yet started. However, Mike White hinted that some actors from previous seasons may return for guest appearances.
Unfortunately, Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, the composer behind the show’s iconic theme music, will not be involved in the new season.
In an interview with The New York Times, Tapia de Veer explained that he stepped away due to creative differences with Mike White.
