Secondupdate.com – Promoter Mecimapro has faced criticism from SEVENTEEN fans, CARAT, regarding the wristband exchange process for the SEVENTEEN RIGHT HERE IN JAKARTA concert, which took place on February 8-9, 2025.
Fans were required to exchange their e-vouchers for physical tickets before the concert, which caused issues from the very first day of redemption. The wristband exchange at Lotte Mall, South Jakarta, on Monday (February 4, 2025), resulted in chaos, even leading to casualties.
Although the situation improved and became more organized in the following days, many fans continued to question Mecimapro's policy, which forced them to wait in long lines just to exchange their wristbands.
For several other K-pop concerts in Jakarta, attendees could go directly to the venue on the concert day without having to go through a separate wristband redemption process. This has led many CARATs to feel that the promoter is not keeping up with technological advancements and is still using an inconvenient system.
One fan, Galih, who lined up on Tuesday (February 5, 2025), expressed his frustration. He believes that Mecimapro should adopt a more modern approach and use more advanced technology to avoid making things difficult for concertgoers.
"Technology is already advanced these days, so promoters should be more aware of these things. That way, fans and attendees don’t have to wait for too long. It’s really inconvenient. We’re paying customers, not getting this for free. I think the promoter needs to be more tech-savvy," said Galih, a CARAT who was among those queuing at Lotte Mall earlier this week.
In response to the criticism, Mecimapro explained that the wristband exchange is a standard procedure in concert ticketing systems. They stated that ticket buyers’ identities still need to be manually verified because their system is not yet capable of handling digital tickets on a large scale.
They also added that, at present, there is no sufficiently advanced digital system to manage tickets for a stadium-scale concert. However, they promised to continue working on and considering a digital ticketing system for the future.
