SecondUpdate.com - aespa has once again captured public attention ahead of their latest comeback. This time, aespa is confirmed to collaborate with G-Dragon on a pre-release track titled WDA (Whole Different Animal).
The announcement was made by SM Entertainment on Friday, May 8, 2026. The song WDA is scheduled to be released on Monday at 6 PM KST, or around 4 PM WIB.
The track will serve as the opening release for aespa’s second full-length album, LEMONADE, which is set to be released on May 29, 2026. The album is said to showcase a more mature musical style compared to aespa’s previous concepts, which were heavily associated with futuristic themes and the metaverse.
This collaboration has immediately become a hot topic among K-pop fans because it brings together one of the industry’s legendary idols and one of the most popular fourth-generation girl groups today.
In fact, aespa is reportedly the first fourth-generation girl group to officially collaborate with the leader of BIGBANG in a studio recording.
In reality, the professional connection between aespa and G-Dragon has been visible several times before. One of aespa’s members, Karina, previously appeared in the music video for G-Dragon’s song TOO BAD, which was released in February 2025.
Additionally, aespa also appeared on the MBC variety show Good Day, hosted directly by G-Dragon. Their interactions on the program successfully drew attention from fans and sparked speculation about a future collaboration.
Now, that speculation has finally become reality through WDA. Many fans believe this collaboration could mark a major step for aespa in showcasing a more mature and realistic musical identity.
Through the album LEMONADE, SM Entertainment appears determined to guide aespa into a new chapter of their career. Meanwhile, WDA is predicted to become one of the most highly anticipated K-pop releases of May 2026.
