SecondUpdate.com – South Korean actress Yerin Ha has become a topic of public discussion after she was allegedly subjected to racist treatment while promoting her latest series, the fourth season of Bridgerton.

The allegations surfaced following a promotional event held by Netflix in Madrid, Spain. On Wednesday (Feb 18), Netflix hosted a masquerade-themed promotional event inspired by a scene from the series.

At the event, Yerin Ha appeared alongside her co-stars Luke Thompson and Hannah Dodd. The trio took part in interviews with local media and a photo session while wearing outfits designed by Spanish designers.

Public attention, however, focused on the arrangement of the released promotional photos. Many netizens felt that the organizers highlighted Hannah Dodd more than Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson, even though Yerin and Luke are the main female and male leads in the new season.

In the circulating photo, Hannah appears positioned at the front next to Luke, while Yerin stands slightly apart.

Several social media comments questioned this decision. One user wrote that Yerin should have been the main focus of the promotional photo.

In addition to the photo arrangement, another alleged incident occurred during an interview session. Spanish media outlet ABC reportedly misspelled Yerin Ha’s name as “Yern Ha.”

This mistake was later compared to the spelling of Luke Thompson’s name, which is considered more complex but was written correctly.

The incident sparked discussions among fans about the importance of respecting a person’s identity, including the correct spelling of their name.

Yerin Ha herself has been in the spotlight after being cast as Sophie Baek, the main female character in Bridgerton’s fourth season. She stars opposite Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton. Their storyline centers on a complicated and forbidden romance.

Before joining this major project, Yerin was known for her roles in the mini-series Bad Behaviour and The Survivors. Her acting talent is said to run in the family, inherited from her grandmother, Son Sook, a legendary actress and political figure in South Korea.

The alleged racism case involving Yerin Ha has once again fueled conversations about representation and equal treatment of actors from diverse backgrounds in the international entertainment industry. Many fans hope that future promotional activities will be conducted more fairly and with respect for all cast members.
