Official! Milo Manheim and Teagan Croft to Star in the Live-Action Tangled

SecondUpdate.com – Disney has finally revealed the actors who will portray the main characters in the upcoming live-action Tangled, which is currently in development.

Two young stars, Milo Manheim and Teagan Croft, have officially been chosen to bring Flynn Rider and Rapunzel to life in the latest adaptation of the beloved 2010 animated film.

The announcement was made officially and immediately captured the attention of fans. Tangled is widely regarded as one of Disney’s most beloved animated films, making the reveal of its live-action cast a highly anticipated moment.

In this new version, Milo Manheim and Teagan Croft will take over from the original voice actors, Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore. Disney has also confirmed that the live-action film will retain the musical elements that define Tangled, while presenting them with a more realistic visual approach.

However, many key details remain under wraps. Disney has yet to announce an official release date, nor has it revealed the supporting cast, including who will portray the iconic antagonist, Mother Gothel.

The role of Flynn Rider will be played by Milo Manheim, a 24-year-old actor who is already familiar with the Disney universe. He is widely known for his role as Zed in the Zombies film series on Disney Channel, which showcased both his acting and musical talents.

Milo is also the son of actress Camryn Manheim and drew public attention when he competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2018. After being cast as Flynn Rider, Milo expressed his excitement by writing the iconic quote, “I have seen the light,” in the comments section of Disney’s official Instagram post.

Meanwhile, the character of Rapunzel will be portrayed by Teagan Croft, a 21-year-old Australian actress. She rose to prominence after starring as Raven in the DC series Titans for several seasons.

In addition, Teagan appeared in the 2023 film True Spirit, in which she portrayed the real-life figure Jessica Watson. Her casting as Rapunzel was met with a humorous response, as she left a spontaneous and entertaining comment on Disney’s Instagram post, seemingly in disbelief at landing the role.

The selection of the main cast for the live-action Tangled reportedly involved a long and highly selective process. Candidates were even required to undergo a series of auditions in London before Disney made its final decision.

The film will be directed by Michael Gracey, with the screenplay written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Disney is said to be taking great care with this project, given that Tangled has a massive fan base and is considered one of the studio’s modern classics.

For context, the animated Tangled earned approximately USD 591 million worldwide and later spawned a successful spin-off series on Disney Channel. With that legacy, expectations for the live-action version are understandably high. 

For now, fans can only await further updates from Disney, hoping that this new take on Rapunzel and Flynn Rider will capture the same magic as the original animated film.
