SecondUpdate.com – After a long wait, CARAT finally received a sweet surprise. SEVENTEEN’s two main vocalists, Dokyeom (DK) and Seungkwan, have officially taken a new step through the debut of their unit called DxS.
They released their first mini album titled Serenade, which immediately captured attention from its very first day of release.
The album has been available on various music platforms since January 12, 2026, and contains six tracks with a total duration of around 19 minutes.
Although relatively short, Serenade successfully delivers an emotional and highly personal listening experience.
Fans’ enthusiasm had actually been felt since December 2025. Various teasers were released starting December 17, followed by a highlight medley on January 8, 2026.
Since then, many CARAT have been curious about the musical color that these two main vocal pillars of SEVENTEEN would present.
These expectations were not without reason. For nearly a decade, Dokyeom and Seungkwan have been known as the vocal backbone of the group.
They have different vocal characters, yet they complement each other perfectly. Dokyeom is recognized for his clear and powerful voice, while Seungkwan has a warm, emotionally rich tone.
The mini album Serenade is designed as a space to highlight their vocal strengths and their ability to convey stories through songs.
Overall, the album explores various phases of romantic relationships, ranging from falling in love, boredom, and conflict, to the courage to start over.
The title Serenade itself means “a love song sung at night.” This meaning fits well with the album’s warm, calm, and reflective musical atmosphere—like accompanying listeners through a quiet nighttime mood.
Serenade contains the following six tracks: Rockstar – Dokyeom Solo, Blue (Title Track), Guilty Pleasure, Silence, Dream Serenade – Seungkwan Solo, and Prelude of Love.
The song Blue was chosen as the title track because it is considered the best representation of the album’s emotions. The track portrays a relationship that is slowly drifting apart, yet still leaves behind feelings that are hard to let go.
Its melancholic mood is strongly felt, further enhanced by a cinematic and dramatic music video.
Meanwhile, their two solo tracks also steal the spotlight. Rockstar showcases Dokyeom’s energetic and confident side, while Dream Serenade highlights Seungkwan’s gentle and emotional character.
DxS is not merely a side project. This unit serves as a platform for Dokyeom and Seungkwan to demonstrate their vocal quality and their ability to convey stories through their voices. They aim to present music that can be felt, not just heard.
Through Serenade, they successfully encapsulate various emotions in one album that feels close to many people’s experiences.
For CARAT, Serenade is not only a unit debut, but also proof that Dokyeom and Seungkwan truly deserve special recognition as SEVENTEEN’s main vocalists.
