Criticized on Social Media, Kim Soo Hyun Reports Perpetrator to the Police

Secondupdate.com – South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has recently taken legal action against malicious comments and defamatory posts circulating about him online.

His agency, Gold Medalist, stated in an official announcement that a surge of posts, comments, and false information about Kim Soo Hyun has been widely spreading across the internet.

“In particular, baseless speculative content and unverified claims have been continuously and repeatedly shared, leading the public to misunderstand and damaging the reputation of our artist,” read the agency’s statement, as reported by Soompi on Tuesday.

They further emphasized that defamation, the spread of false information, personal attacks, and sexual harassment on social media are serious crimes that cannot be ignored.

With reports from fans and the results of internal monitoring, Gold Medalist officially filed a legal complaint on April 14.

The report was submitted to the authorities based on defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and insult under South Korea’s Criminal Law.

The agency also highlighted the phenomenon of “cyber wreckers” – a term used to describe individuals who exploit anonymity online to spread fake news and create videos that could trigger cyberbullying.

Gold Medalist asserted that it would continue to take legal action against malicious content to protect Kim Soo Hyun’s rights.

“We will continue to file additional complaints against defamatory posts targeting our artist, and we promise to do our utmost to protect our artist’s rights through strong legal measures against any clearly criminal behavior,” the statement added.

For your information, Kim Soo Hyun has been entangled in a sensitive issue since March. He was accused of having a relationship with actress Kim Sae Ron during a time when she was still underage. However, these accusations have been firmly denied by Kim Soo Hyun’s side.
