Secondupdate.com – Singer couple Rihanna and A$AP Rocky received a name suggestion from musician Pharrell Williams when naming their second child.
Their 18-month-old son was named Riot Rose Mayers based on Pharrell’s idea, according to an E! News report on Sunday (Feb 22).
Pharrell, who collaborated with A$AP Rocky on the 2023 song "RIOT (Rowdy Pipe'n)", initially thought the baby would be a girl.
"He gave us this name because he thought it was going to be a girl," Rihanna said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, published on February 22.
Rihanna first announced her pregnancy during her Super Bowl Halftime Show 2023 performance. Now, she has shared details about her second child, Riot.
"Riot, he's so funny," said the "Diamonds" singer.
"When he wakes up, he starts screaming and yelling—not in a crying way. He just wants to sing. And I’m like, 'Okay, here we go! He’s my morning alarm! He won’t take no for an answer from anyone," she added.
Rihanna and Rocky also have a two-year-old son named RZA Athelston Mayers. According to his mother, RZA is an empathetic child with a deep love for music.
"He’s truly magical. He loves music, melodies, books, and water. Bath time, swimming, pools, the beach—anything," Rihanna said.
The name RZA was inspired by a member of Wu-Tang Clan, rapper Robert Fitzgerald Diggs. Diggs himself expressed pride in the name choice.
"I’d bet 75 percent that our next child will be a boy again," Rihanna told E! News at an event in December 2023.
"We’ll keep praying," she added.
