Secondupdate.com – Bandai Namco Filmworks Japan has announced that it has begun production on the Hollywood live-action adaptation of the iconic mecha franchise, Gundam.

According to Channel News Asia on Wednesday (5/2), the film will be directed by Jim Mickle. Additionally, a poster announcing the collaboration between the two companies was also released on Wednesday, giving fans a first look at the project.

The company explained that it has signed a joint financing agreement with the American production company Legendary Entertainment, which previously produced Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

"We plan to announce the details gradually once they are finalized," said Legendary and Bandai Namco, as quoted by Sea IGN.

The film was originally announced in 2018. However, since then, there has been little news about its development. Now, the latest update from Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks America suggests that fans may finally look forward to seeing the first-ever live-action Gundam movie on the big screen.

Moreover, the upcoming Gundam film marks the franchise’s first live-action adaptation, making it highly anticipated by many.
