Secondupdate.com - Actor Chris Evans has denied rumors claiming that he will return for the film Avengers: Doomsday. According to Evans, he has already retired and is happily enjoying his life.

His role as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America—one of the main characters in the MCU—ended in Avengers: Endgame. He further explained that such rumors resurface every year.

"That’s not true. This always happens. I mean, it happens every few years since Endgame. I just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no—I’ve happily retired!" Evans said, as quoted in a report by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday (Jan 30).

Chris Evans first portrayed the MCU superhero in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. Then, in 2019, he decided to retire from the role.

In the Marvel films, Evans' character shares a close friendship with Sam Wilson, also known as Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie. Mackie, who was a close friend of Evans, stated that he was unaware of whether Evans would return or not.

"I spoke with Chris a few weeks ago, and at that time, there were no plans. At least, he didn’t tell me there were, because I asked him. I was like, 'You know, they say they’re bringing everyone back for the movie. Are you coming back?' He said, 'Oh, you know, I’ve happily retired,'" Mackie shared.
